Hyderabad: BRS leaders launched a scathing attack on the Congress government for filing baseless cases against the party working president and senior MLA KT Rama Rao and avoiding a discussion on the Formula-E car race in the Assembly. Former Ministers G Jagadish Reddy, Vemula Prashanth Reddy, and Talasani Srinivas Yadav said the government was using false allegations against Rama Rao to divert attention from its unfulfilled promises to the public.
Speaking at the Assembly Media Point on Friday, Jagadish Reddy questioned the Congress government’s hesitation to debate the issue in the legislature, demanding proof of any wrongdoing by Rama Rao during his tenure. “Not a single public issue or farmer-related assurance has been discussed in the Assembly. Even the opposition is not being allowed to clarify on the allegations levelled by the ruling party. What is Rama Rao’s crime in the Formula-E event?” he asked, vowing to press for a discussion.
Prashanth Reddy charged the Congress with lacking the courage to debate the matter openly. “If the government has guts, let them discuss the issue in the Assembly. We will not back down,” he asserted.
Talasani Srinivas Yadav criticised the Congress for unruly behaviour in the House, claiming the ruling party MLAs threw papers and bottles at the BRS MLAs to disrupt proceedings and incite violence. “Let government doctors conduct tests for everyone, if the Congress MLAs claim we were drunk,” he challenged, demanding the Congress to allow a debate. They pledged to continue their fight until the issue is discussed in the House.
