Cash reward handed over to seven surrendered Maoists in Kothagudem

Kothagudem: Superintendent of Police, B Rohith Raju handed over cash reward cheques to seven surrendered cadres of CPI (Maoist) here on Monday.

Madakam Idumaiah alias Mahesh of Allapalli mandal, Lakshmaiah alias Kallu of Cherla mandal and Koram Somaiah alias Soma of Yetapaka mandal in Alluri Sitaramaraju district of Andhra Pradesh were each given a cash cheque worth Rs 1 lakh.
The SP informed that 26 Maoists who surrendered during the year 2023-2024 were given reward money sanctioned by the Telangana government for their rehabilitation. Top leaders of the Maoist party for selfish purposes with outdated ideologies were forcing innocent tribals to join their party to do illegal activities. The district police would always stand by the surrendered Maoists, he said.
Rohith Raju appealed to Maoist leaders and cadres to lay down their arms and fight for the rights of the people democratically. Those who wanted to surrender and lead a normal life should surrender either through their relatives, local police officials or before the SP.
Steps would be taken by the police to ensure that those who have surrendered receive all kinds of rewards on behalf of the government. Additional SP (Operations) T Sai Manohar, Dummugudem CI Ashok and Cherla CI Raju Varma were present.
