Yashoda Hospitals, Hitech City on Sunday launched a dedicated ‘Chronic Kidney Disease’ clinic that will focus on CKD management and prevent patients from developing chronic kidney ailments.
The study published in the Annals of Surgery found that bariatric surgery was linked to a 60% lower risk of kidney disease progression and a 44% lower risk of developing kidney failure or dying compared to the nonsurgical group.
Research led by scientists, Dr. Anil Kumar Pasupulati of Department of Biochemistry at UoH, and Dr. G Bhanuprakash Reddy, Scientist G with NIN, investigated the pathobiology of obesity-induced kidney ailments.
The findings, published in the journal Science Translational Medicine, suggested that replacing one faulty gene that codes for a protein known as podocin could cure the condition.
