Khammam: CPI (ML) Mass Line has called upon the civil society to strongly condemn the violence against the Hindu minority in Bangladesh
Speaking at a programme here on Thursday, the party district secretary, Avula Ashok stated that after the student uprising in Bangladesh, due to the political dominance of religious extremists, Hindu minorities were being attacked for the past six months.
He said that the increase in communal violence indicates the failure of the ruling class. Raping of Hindu women and forced conversions should be considered a failure of the Bangladesh government and everyone should stand against such actions.
Ashok complained that the caretaker government has failed to protect the rights and lives of minorities in Bangladesh. There were political, religious and social reasons behind the attacks. There were reports of attacks mainly on residences of Hindus, temples and businesses, he said.
Hindus in Bangladesh have been agitating on a large scale against the violence against them. It was immoral on part of the Bangladeshi government for failing to respond to the demand of the religious minorities to take immediate measures for their protection, he noted.
Booking cases of treason against the representatives of organisations working for the rights of minorities was wrong. Bangladesh Hindu, Buddhist and Christian union Councils were concerned over the safety of their communities, Ashok said.
The responsibility lies with the communists and intellectual community to respond to the violation of minorities’ rights, irrespective of the region and nation; he suggested adding that in the pretext of incidents in Bangladesh, RSS and religious organisations in India inciting Hindus.
If the fundamentalists grabbed political power in Bangladesh with the help of unemployed youth, the fundamentalists in India came to the power with the fight against corruption as a pretext. Any religious extremism was a violation of civil and democratic rights, Ashok added.
The party divisional secretary Jhansi, K Srinu, Laxman, Rakesh, Prem Singh and others were present.
