Hyderabad: The Cyberabad cybercrime police arrested two persons on charges of cheating a software engineer to the tune of Rs 2.29 crore in the guise of investments in stocks promising high returns.
The suspects were identified as Naresh Shinde and Saurangh Shinde, both from Aurangabad in Maharashtra.
According to the cybercrime police, the duo along with their associates duped a software engineer from the city promising to provide profitable trading insights through stock investment platforms. They claimed to show high returns in short time.
“After being convinced of their credibility, the victim registered on a trading platform and transferred nearly Rs 2.29 crore into their bank accounts. However, only virtual profit was shown and he could not withdraw the funds,” said a cybercrime official.
Based on his complaint, the cybercrime police booked a case and arrested them. Efforts are on to nab the absconding suspects.
