Part of  solar-powered cycling track along ORR dismantled

Municipal officials dismantle 80-metre portion of the 23-km long solar-powered cycling track along Outer Ring Road

Known as the ‘Healthway Cycling Track’, the facility boasts a global design and is divided into two distinct stretches:

First section covers  a distance of

8.5 km

stretching from TGPA to Nanakramguda

Second spans

14.5 km

extending from Narsingi to Kollur

Sudden dismantling attracts huge criticism from general public, especially fitness enthusiasts

Only a part being removed to accommodate a ramp that will benefit traffic from Khajaguda, clarify Senior Cyberabad traffic officials

Was inaugurated during the BRS government tenure in early 2023, marking a significant milestone for  the city

Spearheaded by Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited (HGCL), a wing of Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA)

Total of 16,000 solar panels were installed in a record time of just 18 days.

This will generate 16 megawatts (MW) of power which will be utilized to light up the track at night and is also expected to fulfill some other power requirements of ORR

Around 9MW of power can be generated through the solar roofing of the cycle track

And the same could be utilized by HGCL for ORR lighting, drip irrigation and other power requirements of ORR

The 23-km three-lane track has two stretches converging at Narsingi Junction

An 8.5 km stretch from Nanakramguda to Telangana State Police Academy and another 14.5 km stretch from Kollur to Narsingi at Narsingi Junction with five different access points.
