With streetlights going off abruptly and unusually, BRS leaders were on Friday forced to take out a rally in darkness from the Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital to Telangana Bhavan at Banjara Hills. The party leaders termed it a deliberate attempt by the Congress government to disrupt the rally.

The BRS cadre conducted two-wheeler rallies, distributed fruits, organized blood donation camps, and arranged 'annadanam' for the underprivileged. In addition, they held various charitable activities across all 33 districts of Telangana. Floral tributes were offered at the statues of Telangana Thalli at BRS party offices, and homage was paid to Telangana martyrs.

BRS leaders and local people, who participated in large numbers in the Deeksha Diwas programme held at Alugunur here on Friday, recollected the scenes that happened during the time of the arrest of party president K Chandrashekhar Rao 15 years ago.

He complained that Revanth Reddy was plotting to send Chandrashekhar Rao and Rama Rao to jail to damage the BRS. The BRS cadres should draw inspiration from Deeksha Diwas and work with renewed zeal to strengthen the party, he said.

Inauguration of historic Telangana Udyama Prasthanam photo-exhibition at Telangana Bhavan would take place at 10.30 am. It would be followed by Deeksha Diwas Sabha at the district party office.

A district level preparatory meeting for the purpose was held here on Tuesday. The party state general secretary, MLC Takkallapally Ravinder Rao and district president, MLC Tatha Madhusudhan attended the meeting.

Deeksha Diwas holds immense significance in Telangana's history, symbolizing the pivotal indefinite hunger strike initiated by Chandrashekar Rao on November 29, 2009.

Deeksha Diwas is celebrated in Telangana on November 29 every year to commemorate the commencement of the indefinite hunger strike undertaken by BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao.

He also challenged the Congress to come up with facts and to name any State which filled more government jobs than Telangana in the last 10 years.
