Sangareddy: Even as Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has claimed that the crop loan waiver was 100 per cent implemented, many farmers are still waiting for the waiver in the erstwhile Medak district.
Several farmers, who had loans exceeding Rs.2 lakh have not found their names on the list, despite repaying the excess amount to banks following the suggestion of Agriculture Minister Thummala Nageshwar Rao. Even farmers who borrowed less than Rs.2 lakh have not got the benefit because their spouses had also taken separate loans. Couple’s whose collective loan amount exceeded Rs.2 lakh have also missed out though they participated in the family grouping survey carried out by the Agriculture department.
Though the Chief Minister did not make any announcement on another installment of the loan waiver scheme, agriculture officials are convincing farmers that there would be another installment of the loan waiver soon.
Speaking to Telangana Today, Maithri Surappa of Nyalkal said he and his wife together taken loans of more than Rs.2 lakh, but neither’s name was found in the beneficiaries list. He said many farmers from his village did not get the waiver. Another farmer Bachala Ramana, who borrowed 2.05 lakh, repaid Rs.5,000 to the bank, but did not get the waiver. Farmers have demanded that the government make a clear statement about whether they would get a waiver or not. These farmers were seen roaming around banks and agriculture officials anxiously searching for their names in the list of beneficiaries. Nearly, 30 to 40 per cent in each agriculture cluster did not get benefits, according to a rough estimate, officials said, however, refusing to share the actual statistics.
