Hyderabad: Nizamabad MP Dharmapuri Arvind has challenged the Finance Minister T Harish Rao to come forward for a debate on central assistance to the State. He said if proved that there was central assistance to Telangana, the government must quit and seek fresh elections and not just the Finance Minister.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP State headquarters here on Monday, Arvind reiterated his stand saying that the union government has so far released Rs 14,917 crore for distribution of rice through fair price shops during the past four years. Coming heavily on the TRS government he said that the infrastructure of Hyderabad city could only be improved if the government took steps without caring for political outcome. He recalled Narendra Modi as Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2005 had ordered demolition of two lakh illegal structures in 143 towns.
Accusing the TRS of playing a second fiddle to MIM, he said the government could not even shift a pan shop in the old city without fearing Majlis. He accused the government of being inept in handling the flood situation. Expressing confidence over the victory of BJP candidate in Dubbak by-elections, he predicted that the TRS would lose the next general elections.
