Hyderabad: Amid speculation that Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Foxconn was planning to set up its facility in other States instead of Hyderabad, IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu on Tuesday announced that Foxconn’s facility would commence production soon in the State.
Replying to a query during the Question Hour in Legislative Council on Tuesday, Sridhar Babu said Foxconn would set up its facility in Hyderabad and that the reports about the company planning to shift to other States were false. “Foxconn has a base in Bengaluru, Chennai and Gujarat. It is establishing different verticals in different places. In Hyderabad too a facility will come,”he claimed.
Stating that Foxconn would make an announcement in this regard shortly, the IT Minister said the State government was making arrangements for the company to set up its facility in the State. Commenting on Global Capability Centre (GCC), he said world-renowned hotel chain Marriott chose Hyderabad for its first GCC, starting operations with 300 employees. The GCC was expected to generate over 20,000 jobs, he said.
