BC Welfare minister Gangula Kamalakar garlanding the statue of Mahatma Gandhi on his 151st birthday at Karimnagar on Friday.
Karimnagar: 151st birthday of Mahatma Gandhi was celebrated on a grand scale across the erstwhile Karimnagar district on Friday. Public representatives, government officials, leaders of various political parties and the common public paid rich tributes to Gandhi by garlanding his statues and portraits.
BC Welfare and Civil Supplies Minister, Gangula Kamalakar along with Karimnagar Municipal Corporation Mayor Y Sunil Rao participated in celebrations held at the collectorate office. Speaking on the occasion, Kamalakar called upon the present generation youth to follow the ideology of Gandhi, who fought against social evils.
Taking forward the ideology and aspirations of the father of the nation was a great homage paid to him. Gandhi, who was strongly believed in truth, peace and dharma, was dreamt for caste and religious free India. That is why the father of the nation has been remembered across the globe. Moreover, Gandhi had always strove for social change. In order to develop Telangana in all fields, the state government has introduced Palle Pragathi, Pattana Pragathi and Swachh Bharath.
Informing that all the programmes were getting good results, the Minister expressed confidence to place the district in the front row in implementing Beti Bachao-Beti Padao programme.
Collector K Shashanka, Commissioner of Police, VB Kamalasan Reddy, KMC Commissioner Valluru Kranthi, Trainee Collector Ankith and others participated in the programme. On the occasion, they planted saplings in Collectorate premises.
