Minister P Ajay Kumar laid the foundation stone for a railway under-bridge in Khammam on Tuesday.
Khammam: The State government has been giving priority to infrastructure development in Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in Telangana, Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar said on Tuesday.
The minister along with SUDA Chairman, B Vijay Kumar launched several development works here on Tuesday. He laid the foundation stone for a railway under bridge to be built with Rs 16.94 crores at a railway level crossing on Dhamsalapuram-Bonakal road in the city.
The works include construction of approach roads to the bridge, connecting it to the main road and development of the roads to ensure smooth flow of vehicular traffic, Ajay Kumar informed.
He also laid the foundation stone for the construction of a market for street vendors to be built with Rs 37 lakhs at Rotary Nagar. Speaking on the occasion the minister said that the market was being built for the benefit of street vendors and to address traffic problems on the roads.
Many street vendors were allotted shops at the newly built RTC bus stand. Rs 10, 000 financial assistance was given to street vendors affected by Covid crisis, Ajay Kumar informed.
Earlier on the day, Ajay Kumar inaugurated a mini-transfer station built with Rs 1.32 crores at Danavaigudem dumping yard for the temporary deposition and compression of waste before shifting it to Mallemadugu dump yard for processing.
Modern vehicles and containers would be used to shift the waste to the dump yard for effective waste management. The mini-transfer station would help to save money and time in collecting the garbage from residential areas, he explained.
The minister visited Covid vaccination centre set for vaccinating high risk groups like auto rickshaw drivers, mini-van drivers and others at the RTA office. He interacted with the drivers and advised them to take precautions to keep themselves safe from Covid.
Following the government orders as many as 25, 000 potential spreaders from different categories in Khammam city have been vaccinated by organising special camps, the minister noted.
MLC, B Lakshminarayana, Mayor P Neeraja, deputy Mayor, Shaik Fatima Zohara, Municipal Commissioner, Anurag Jayanthi, DM&HO, Dr. B Malathi, RTO, T Kishan Rao, TRS district party office in-charge, Gundala Krishna and others were present.
