Hyderabad: The Nampally police on Saturday night rescued an infant who was kidnapped from the Niloufer Hospital by kidnappers and arrested three suspects who had abducted the child.
The suspects Shaheen Begum (28), Abdulla alias Venkatesh (35) and Reshma alias Renuka, (30), planned to kidnap a male infant from Niloufer Hospital.
According to the police, the trio identified the infant aged around one month when his mother Haseena Begum, came to Niloufer for the treatment of the infant who was suffering from jaundice.
“Shaheen Begum, on pretext of helping Haseena, took the infant from her while the latter was busy with discharge formalities. Shaheen brought out the infant from the hospital and along with Abdulla sped away on a moped towards Masab Tank,” said DCP (central) Akshansh Yadav.
Haseena, who found that her son was abducted informed the hospital security who alerted the police. Five teams were formed by the police and after verifying the footages of the surveillance cameras, the police found that the kidnappers took a car and were on way to Kurnool.
The police alerted their counterparts’ enroute to Kurnool. “A police team stopped the car at Pullur Toll Plaza and rescued the infant. The baby boy was handed over the parents,” said the official.
The three suspects were produced before the court and remanded.
