Hyderabad: The Chikkadpally police on Sunday arrested three persons in connection with the death of a woman due to stampede that happened during the premiere of ‘Pushpa 2’ on Wednesday night.
The arrested are M Sandeep (37) partner at Sandhya theatre, M Nagaraju (51), manager and Gandhakam Vijay Chander (53), lower balcony incharge at the theatre.
Central Zone DCP Akansh Yadav, said that the police had no intimation about the actor visiting the theatre along with his team to watch the movie. “The theatre management did not make any additional provisions regarding the security to manage the crowd. Taking advantage of the presence of the actor large number of people entered inside the lower balcony leading to the stampede situation and death of the woman,” said Akansh Yadav.
After the incident, the police registered a case against actor Allu Arjun, his private security team and the management of Sandhya Theatre. A 32-year-old woman, Revathi, died in the stampede while her son Sai Teja is battling for life at a private hospital.
The woman went to the theatre along with her husband, Bhaskar and two children Sai Teja and M Sangvika. When Allu Arjun arrived at the theatre there was a stampede and Revathi and Sai Teja were trapped in the crowd and the woman died due to suffocation. Sai Teja, was pulled out from the crowd by emergency responders who then shifted the boy to a private hospital where the child is undergoing treatment. His condition remains critical.
The police registered a case under section 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 118 (1) (voluntarily causing hurt/grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of BNS.”
