Hyderabad: In a tragic incident, an engineering student died and his friend were injured after a private bus hit their scooter at Punjagutta on Friday.
The incident occurred when the victim, K Lokesh (20), a final year B Tech student from a private engineering college along with his friend Rajiv were proceeding on Lokesh’s scooter from Punjagutta towards Ameerpet.
According to the police, when they reached Punjagutta, a bus which was driven in a rash and negligent manner hit their scooter from behind. Both the students fell on the road and the bus tyre ran over them, killing Lokesh on the spot.
Other motorists and pedestrians rushed to their rescue while the injured was shifted to the hospital and being treated.
The Punjagutta police booked a case and took up investigation. Efforts are on to identify and nab the driver of the private bus, who is absconding.
In a similar incident, an elderly man was mowed down by a speeding TGSRTC bus at Dundigal. The unidentified victim aged in his late fifties was crossing the main road when the mishap occurred.
The Dundigal police booked a case and are investigating.
