Hyderabad: Students from Sree Nidhi Institute of Science and Technology (SNIST) near Ghatkesar on Wednesday protested against the management for withholding hall tickets of its BTech final year students due to Congress government’s delay in releasing arrears related to fee reimbursement.
According to protesting students, the college management was forcing students to pay 33 percent of the tuition fee or submit post dated cheques for issuing hall tickets. In reality, however, the tuition fee, according to students, is covered by the State government under its fee reimbursement scheme.
In a circular sent via emails to students, the college management asked all the BTech IV-year students to clear the fee dues by Wednesday and instructed them to collect hall tickets for the second mid-term examinations, commencing December 19, by 3 pm on Wednesday.
“For students who have fees due in order to get your hall tickets you need to pay the part payment of Rs.30,000 or should submit PD cheques. For students who have full fee due, you should pay Rs.1,00,000 to get your hall tickets,” read a message sent to students.
These messages from the management led to an outrage on the college premises with students demanding justice and hall tickets for appearing for the examinations. They also expressed their anger on X (formerly Twitter), tagging Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and urged him to intervene and resolve the issue.
A total of Rs.4,980.18 crore fee reimbursement arrears of students studying in different courses in the State is pending with the State government.
