Skipper Vellore Mahesh Kavya took four wickets while medium pacer Yashasri grabbed three as Hyderabad bundled out Chhattisgarh for 133 in 49.3 overs
Hyderabad: Stung by a defeat against Odisha in the second match, Hyderabad came back strongly in their third match as they trounced Chhattisgarh by five wickets in their Elite Group A league match of the senior national women’s cricket championship in Surat on Tuesday.
Skipper Vellore Mahesh Kavya took four wickets while medium pacer Yashasri grabbed three as Hyderabad bundled out Chhattisgarh for 133 in 49.3 overs. Chasing a modest target, Hyderabad cruised home comfortably.
Batting first Chhattisgarh ran into trouble as Kavya dismissed the top four batters. Manpreet Kaur held the innings for a 77-ball 30 before she was sent back by G Trisha. In pursuit of 134 runs for a win, Trisha Poojitha and Kavya were back in the pavilion very early in the innings. However opener Ramya (30) and veteran Mamtha Kanojia (28) stitched 59 runs for the third wicket. Both Mamtha and Ramya were out in a space of six runs to reduce Hyderabad to 76/4 in 24.4 overs.
However, G Trisha and Anuradha Nayak defied the Chhattisgarh attack with a crucial 49-run partnership. Anuradha, who hit 59-ball 35, fell with Hyderabad nine runs away from victory.
Brief scores: Chhattisgarh 133 in 49.3 overs (Manpreet Kaur 30, Yashasri 3/28, VM Kavya 4/25) lost to Hyderabad 134/5 in 43.1 overs (Ramya 30, Mamtha Kanojia 28, Anuradha Nayak 35)
