Hyderabad: Stung by the severe backlash from across the society over Forest Minister Konda Surekha‘s derogatory comments on actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu and other actors, the Telangana Congress Pradesh Committee on Thursday appealed to the film industry not to escalate the issue further and to stop the entire episode.
In a video message released here, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud appealed to the film industry to accept the apologies tendered by the Minister.
Stating that the Minister had already withdrawn her comments, he said she had also tendered apologies to the actress immediately for her comments.
Considering the fact that women were on both sides of the issue, the TPCC president urged that the controversy around the Minister’s comments be stopped.
He also appealed to the film fraternity to also look at the way the Minister was trolled by a section of social media users.
“With women being at the receiving end on both the sides and since there is no practice in the society to demean women, let us stop the issue here,” Goud said.
The TPCC president also asked Congress Ministers and leaders to be exercise restraint while making comments and to mind their language.
