Over 4,000 seats remain vacant in MBA, MCA programmes after TG ICET 2024 special phase counselling

Hyderabad: In a surprising trend, the Technical Education department’s recent Telangana Integrated Common Entrance Test (TG ICET) 2024 special phase counselling has resulted in 4,021 vacant seats in the MBA and MCA programmes.
In fact, this figure marks an increase from 3,469 vacant seats after the final phase counselling, raising concerns about students’ reluctance in pursuing these programmes.
As there were a large number of vacancies after the final phase of counselling, the department decided to fill up them with the special phase counselling. A total of 71,647 candidates qualified the entrance test and 40,532 got their certificates verified.
This year, 35,589 seats with 28,623 in MBA and 6,966 in MCA programmes were up for grabs in 287 colleges.
As many as 9,967 candidates participated in the special phase counselling seeking seat allotment. A total of 31,568 seats were allotted including 25,690 in MBA and 5,878 in MCA, leaving 4,021 seats (MBA – 2933 and MCA – 1088) vacant. This time, 100 colleges secured 100 per cent admissions.
As for management wise admissions, 80 MBA seats were vacant in university colleges and 2,849 in private colleges. In the case of MCA, 20 seats in university colleges and 1,068 in private institutions were vacant after the special phase counselling.
It was reported online on the website https://tgicet.nic.in/ that candidates who secured the seat must report at the allotted college on or before October 7, failing which their provisional seat allotment order stands automatically cancelled.
Students have to submit photocopies of original certificates and original transfer certificates at the college.
