Paddy procurement amount to be deposited in 48 hours, says CM Revanth

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said a bonus of Rs.500 would be paid to fine rice varieties in addition to the MSP and efforts were being made to deposit the procurement amount into the farmers’ account within 48 hours.
He asked District Collectors to establish exclusive procurement centres for fine rice varieties or to arrange exclusive weighing machines within the procurement centres. Speaking at a video conference on Thursday., he said all the prescribed procedures in identification and procurement of fine rice varieties should be duly followed. If the staff was not alert, there was scope for trouble and there should not be any lapses in procurement.
Paddy was cultivated in 66.73 lakh acres in the State. The agriculture department estimated that 140 lakh metric tonnes of paddy would be harvested this season. Among these, 58 percent of stocks were expected to be fine rice varieties, he said, adding that the fine rice cultivation would increase further next year. There was no demand for coarse varieties and there was already lot of stocks with FCI godowns, he said.
Regarding DSC certification, he directed the officials to complete the exercise before Saturday and arrangements should be made to distribute the appointment letters on October 9 at LB Stadium. Already, 9090 candidates certificates were verified, officials informed.
