Khammam: The State government was giving priority to the planned growth of cities and towns by spending huge amounts on infrastructure, Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar said on Thursday.
As part of the infrastructure development, the government was constructing integrated vegetable and meat markets and for street vendors in all the towns and cities across the State, the Minister said.
Ajay Kumar along with SUDA Chairman B Vijay Kumar and Mayor P Neeraja inaugurated a newly built street vendors market at Rotary Nagar in the ninth division and laid the foundation stone for the street vendors market at Naya Bazar circle in the 46th division of Khammam Municipal Corporation on Thursday.
The market at Rotary Nagar would be constructed with an expenditure of Rs 37 lakhs while Rs 38.60 lakhs would be spent on Naya Bazar market construction, he informed. He directed the municipal officials to ensure all the basic amenities for the vendors at the markets.
Later in the day, Ajay Kumar distributed Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) cheques worth Rs 12.99 lakh to around 32 beneficiaries at his VDOs Colony camp office in Khammam. With the help of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, an amount of Rs 7.73 crores was distributed to as many as 1,813 beneficiaries.
The Chief Minister was taking steps for the timely distribution of cheques to the beneficiaries who applied for financial assistance through the CMRF. The government was ensuring the uninterrupted release of funds for all welfare programmes, the Minister said.
The Minister also distributed Shaadi Mubarak and Kalyana Lakshmi cheques worth Rs 15 lakh to fifteen beneficiaries of Raghunathapalem mandal in the district. MLC, B Lakshminarayana, Municipal Commissioner Anurag Jayanthi and others were present.
