The BRS government had offered 4.5 lakh podu pattas to tribal and other community farmers. These farmers cultivate only one crop in a year due water availability and if restrictions were imposed in extending assistance to them under Rythu Bandhu or the new Rythu Bharosa, it would be detrimental to them, he stressed.

BRS legislators have been making statements at the ongoing Assembly and Council sessions by donning different attires each day to spotlight various public issues. On Monday, they wore T-shirts featuring images of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and industrialist Gautam Adani. On Tuesday, they dressed in black to protest the detention of Lagacherla farmers. By Wednesday, they switched to the khaki uniform of auto-rickshaw drivers to draw attention to their struggles.

Releasing an 18-page charge sheet on the one year Congress rule at Telangana Bhavan on Sunday, Harish Rao said the Congress government started its term with a negative attitude and controversial decisions like attempts to alter the State emblem, to cancel key projects such as Pharma City, and to impose restrictive measures on businesses in Hyderabad.

After Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, now Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has said that farmers were benefiting from the Rs.500 bonus than the assistance extended through Rythu Bandhu.

"The Chief Minister is promising to give Rs 500 bonus for fine variety which approximately costs Rs 30,000 crore for the government, but struggles to even pay Rs 7,500 crore under Rythu Bandhu every season. They are deliberately dismantling the scheme while misleading farmers," he remarked.

Many farmers were insisting that bonus should be paid than extending Rythu Bandhu assistance, he said.

Despite record production of paddy and good yields from cotton crops too, the State has witnessed a tragic spike in farmer suicides. The farmer community has been left in shock and grief in many villages.

KTR warned of State-wide protests if the injustices continued, asserting that the BRS would hold similar dharnas across all 119 constituencies.

"Revanth Reddy has not fulfilled any promises from the Warangal Declaration. Farmers remain distressed, and the schemes introduced during KCR’s regime, like Rythu Bandhu, Bathukamma sarees, and KCR kits, have been scrapped," he said.

The move is evoking strong criticism from many sections as people are questioning the rationale behind spending Telangana funds for Maharashtra elections

He noted that while many promises remain unkept at home, Revanth Reddy was now attempting to deceive Maharashtra voters with empty rhetoric.

The Civil Supplies department promised to purchase 8.16 lakh tonnes of paddy in October itself. But as on October 28, only 7,629 tonnes of paddy has been purchased from 913 farmers," he said.

This decision comes as a significant blow to over 70 lakh farmers who have been eagerly checking their bank accounts daily, expecting the remittance of the Rythu Bandhu assistance for the Vanakalam (Kharif season).
