ISRO is gearing up for a mission to demonstrate a space docking experiment called SPADEX, onboard its trusted workhorse polar satellite launch vehicle, its chairman S Somanath said here on Thursday.

Spacecrafts are capable of observing a country's borders and neighbouring regions, he noted.

At 7:30 am, Somanath visited the temple and extended his prayers to the deity, as confirmed by a temple official.

Aditya-L1 is scheduled to be launched on September 2 at 11.50 am from the Sriharikota spaceport in Andhra Pradesh

"The landing on Wednesday evening is confirmed as initially scheduled," stated S. Somanath, Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)

Participating in a talk on "Chandrayaan-3: Bharat’s Pride Space Mission" organised by NGO Disha Bharat, he maintained that the soft landing will be ensured even if all the sensors and two of its engines fail to work.

The technically challenging soft landing on the lunar surface is planned on August 23 at 5.47 pm.

The Bengaluru-headquartered ISRO is busy working on its flagship project, Gaganyaan, which envisages the demonstration of human spaceflight capability.
