Telangana: 5.3 magnitude earthquake hits Mulugu
According to the report from the Centre, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 40 kilometers and the seismic activity has been classified as moderate earthquake
Hyderabad: An earthquake of 5.3 magnitude hit Mulugu region, Telangana at 7.27 am on Wednesday, with its epicenter somewhere near Medaram and a focal depth of 40 kilometers, which as located approximately 218 kilometers to the Northwest of Hyderabad and 212 km to the north of Vijayawada.
The epicenter location of the earthquake was confined to Godavari fault system and its vicinity where several earthquakes in the past happened and it is therefore, the zone of strain energy release and occurred at the deeper layers that caused lesser degree and shaking than expected due to dissipation of maximum seismic energy at the deeper depth
