Hyderabad: Legislators of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and other parties on Thursday appealed to Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar to facilitate more questions during the Question Hour and to avoid political speeches.
Former Minister T Harish Rao raised objection over Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy posing questions to Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy during the question hour. After Nakrekal MLA Vemula Veeresham sought information on Pillaipally and Dharma Reddy canal works, the Irrigation Minister replied. In continuation, the Roads and Buildings Minister said the BRS had neglected irrigation projects in erstwhile Nalgonda. He also tried to blame the BRS government accusing it of apathy towards River Musi and its development.
In reply, the former Minister countered that it was the Congress government that ruled Telangana for a long time and that it should be held responsible for River Musi’s issues. Responding to Harish Rao, Venkat Reddy sought to know in what capacity he was raising objections. “You do not have the right to question,” he said.
CPI MLA K Sambasiva Rao also appealed to the Speaker to ensure more questions were asked by MLAs during the question hour. Stating that only a couple of questions were being asked by the members, he said they had to stick to questions and avoid diverting to other issues not related to the questions raised.
