Hyderabad: Justice K. Lakshman of the Telangana High Court granted anticipatory bail to former Kodangal MLA Patnam Narender Reddy in connection with the FIR (No. 145/2024) registered at Bomraspet Police Station in connection with the Lagacherla incident.
The Court has set conditions for the bail, including that the petitioner must furnish two sureties of Rs.25,000 each, cooperate with the ongoing investigation, and appear at the police station concerned every Monday. The case relates to an investigation into allegations against Patnam Narender Reddy and others for their alleged involvement in creating obstacles for government officials during a public hearing regarding the acquisition of land for the establishment of Pharma City in Vikarabad District.
Just days earlier, the Special Court dealing with criminal cases involving public representatives had granted bail to Reddy in FIR No. 153/2024 related to the Lagacherla incident. The police had filed multiple FIRs against Reddy in connection with the Lagacherla incident, but Justice Lakshman had quashed those FIRs, directing that the investigation should proceed only under FIR No. 153/2024. The current case, FIR No. 145/2024, involves a separate set of charges, and the Investigating Officer had initially claimed that Reddy was not an accused. However, based on the confession of co-accused Mahesh (A21), the police later named Reddy as an accused in this case as well.
