Karimnagar: Telangana Recognised Schools Managements Association (TRSMA) has opposed the State government decision to close schools temporarily on account of rising Covid-19 cases.
Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, TRSMA state president Yadagiri Shekhar Rao said so far, only students studying in government schools and staying in residential hostels run by the State government were infected by Coronavirus. “Except for one or two cases here and there, students studying in private schools and their hostels have not been infected by the virus,” he claimed.
After reopening of schools in February 2021, students were attending classes regularly and parents were also sending their wards happily, he said, adding that school managements were also running schools following Covid norms.
“How far is it correct to close schools while giving permission to run cinema halls, bars, restaurants, function halls, shopping malls and organise meetings?” he questioned.
Stating that students would suffer a lot with the closure of schools that would also impact their future, Rao said Class X was a crucial stage in the life of every student. “Since the exam date for Class X is fast approaching, parents are worried a lot about the future of their wards. Besides students, lakhs of teachers and other staff working in private schools across the State are also undergoing mental stress due to financial and family problems,” he said, adding that the government took the decision without taking their problems into consideration.
Advising the government to quarantine students and schools infected by the virus, he appealed to the government to rethink its decision and take steps to reopen schools.
TRSMA district secretary Sripal Reddy, Treasurer Bomma Srinivas Goud, members Srikanth, Legend Rajaiah, Muthaiah, Srinivasa Rao, Anjanululu and Natraj were present.
