12 held for stealing 44 tolas of gold, cash Rs 15.5 lakh in Mancherial
Twelve persons were on Sunday arrested for allegedly decamping with golden ornaments weighing 44 tolas and liquid cash Rs 15 lakh from a doctor's house in the town on November 30. Police seized 35 tolas of gold and the cash Rs 15.50 lakh were recovered from them.

DCP Bhaskar said that Durgam Tirupathi from Yellur in Penchikalpet mandal, Ganesh Sudhakar of Devalamarri in Maharashtra, MD Nazil, Nazim Baba, Altaf, Syed Sohail, Md Tazeem, Durgam Rajeshwari, Nasreen, Mod Naseer, Md Amas, all from different parts of Mancherial and Mandavagde Swapna of Koutala mandal were apprehended for their role in stealing of the golden ornaments and the cash.
On being interrogated, Tirupathi confessed to committing the crime by forming a gang with the help of the eleven including Swapna who works as a staffer of the hospital belonging to the doctor Vijay Babu. He admitted to lifting the ornaments and cash when the doctor was busy in celebrating his birthday in a hotel of the town. He said that they gained an access to the locker using cutting machine.
