Nine persons, including Indians, killed in road mishap in UAE

Dubai: Nine people were killed and 73 injured in a bus crash in the Khor Fakkan area of Sharjah in UAE on Sunday evening, police said on Monday.
Sharjah Police said the bus, which was carrying 83 construction workers, overturned after its brakes failed. Emergency crews, including teams from Sharjah Police, civil defence and emergency medical services, were sent to the crash site.
All the nine killed were construction workers and mostly hailing from India, with some in social media claiming that there were Telugu workers in the bus, however, there are no details of them available yet. The names of the deceased are not yet revealed by authorities.
The Police have cautioned against false reports circulating in social media about the accident. The Injured were shifted to various hospitals for further treatment, they added.
The tragedy occurred when workers were returning to their site camp after visiting a prime camp where they had purchased grocery items, sources said.
