Dubai/Jagtial: Two construction workers from Telangana were identified among the nine workers who were killed in a fatal road mishap in Khor Fakkan near Sharjah in UAE on Sunday.
Sohail of Mancherial and Sheru Yeranna of Dammakkapeta of Medipalli mandal in Jagtial were the two deceased, while seven others from the State sustained minor to moderate injuries. All the injured are out of danger. Vennala Nithin and Gajula Gangaraju, natives of Jagtial district, were among the seven injured in the tragedy.
“We were all panicking and started to pray, when the driver told us that the brakes failed and asked us to be ready for any fatal accident,” Nithin told ‘Telangana Today’ over phone.
“We were all in full mood of weekend joy, when the driver suddenly announced A brake failure. Within ten minutes of his announcement, tragedy struck,” he said, adding that several employees from Telangana were working in the construction firm whose bus was involved in the accident.
Meanwhile, according to relatives in Jagtial, about 73 labourers working in Durvesh Engineering Emirates Company, Fujairah had gone to Ajman town in the company bus on Sunday. In the evening, they were returning to their camp after shopping when the accident took place. While nine persons died, about 30 were injured.
Besides two from Telangana, three from Rajasthan, two from Punjab, one from Uttar Pradesh and one person from Pakistan died in the accident.
