Nizamabad: The District Cooperative Central Bank (DCCB) officials have erected flexies on the fields of farmers who have not paid the loan amounts in several villages of Nasrullabad mandal in the district creating restlessness among the farming community.
Sources say Cooperative Bank officials on Monday issued notices to farmers in Ankol Thanda, Sangem, Mailaram, Durki, Baswaipalli, Ankol, Hajipur and other villages of Nasrullabad mandal, stating that as they have failed to pay the loan amount the bank has authority to auction the mortgaged land.
They have even erected flexies on a few farmers’ land, stating that the bank has taken over the land and that it would be auctioned on December 26.
The farmers expressed their grievances that the bank officials were insulting them by putting flexis in their fields. The incident has sent shock waves among the farming community in the district and are criticising the action of the bank.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that some farmers are trying to repay their bank loans by taking loans from private lenders or by selling their properties to save their land from being auctioned.
In June, cooperative bank officials also erected flexies and pitched red flags on the fields of farmers who have not paid the loan amounts in Polkampet village of Lingampet mandal of the district creating restlessness among the farming community.
Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao responded to reports published in various media on the issue and expressed his anger at the cooperative bank officials. He ordered them not to act in a way that would defame the farmers.
